For those who missed it, Saturday Night Live returned to the air last night and I was impressed. I haven't been watching it as regularly these last few years (one part lack of interest, one part legal drinking age) but I was really entertained last night. And that is definetly what their goal needs to be. Yes, it is a "comedy/variety" program, but overall their goal is to entertain. SNL was hosted last night by late night alum Tina Fey and had musical guest Carrie Underwood. I have in the past been into American Idol, but I never caught much of Underwood. She's pretty lucky that she has a good voice, because physically, girl has got ISSUES! MmmHmmm.
One of the more interesting points from the show last night, SNL announced that Adam's favorite actress not-named-Helen-Hunt Ellen Page is going to assume the role of host on next week's show and the musical guest will be Rockworms fav Wilco. That'll mos def be worth checking out. JUNO is a beaut.
I am happy that Amy Winehouse appears to be getting
healthy. People have beef with the girl for many legitimete reasons,
but no one SHOULD deny that she is a wonderful talent. I am also happy
that Lindsey Lohan got naked in New York Magazine. She is freckally.
Is the upcoming movie DOOMSDAY, just a rip-off of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK?
I am not sure that I need to know, but I wouldn't mind an answer. I
will probably scheme a viewing of it outta some studio peeps, but
overall, I can't yet tell if it is money-worthy.
P. Diddy's RAISEN IN THE SUN premieres tomorrow night on
ABC. Some of you will remember (not I) that P. Poppa Diddy Popp assumed
this role in a Broadway production of the same name. The ABC version
will be ten times better if for no other reason than it features the
acting prowess of Uncle Jessie. I can't wait. I also learned that I can't spell "raisen." (LATE EDIT: I just saw a commercial, it is "Raisin"...raisin...)
Award season keeps on rolling like a doobie tonight with the
ever-awesome, never-morally-compromising Academy Awards, aka THE
OSCAR's. The only official "Rockworms.com-Sanctioned" awards are the
music ones and I have no interest in any of the nominees for Best
Original Song For a Motion Picture since my boy Eddie Vedder got shamelessly ROBBED for his INTO THE WILD soundtrack. But I DO hear that the movie ONCE will touch my heart, make me cry, question my sexuality and make me move to Ireland. And we are supposed to have a pretty dope prefomance by some young Harlem choir for the AUGUST RUSH theme. So I may have to check it out. Plus my boy Jon Stewart is hosting, so that alone deserves my attention. And I know that is what they yearn for.
So Gene Simmons of KISS has a sex tape out there, eh?
I have a feeling I won't be "officially" checking it one out, but as
more rumors and spoilers come out about it, I am sure I will have to
have a peek. It honestly sounds too hilariously bad to pass up. And I love hilariously bad home-movies. That's why I watched so much America's Funniest People (That's right. The one with Dave Coulier. Not Saget.). Bonus
points for having your publicist confirm that it IS you in the aweful porno. That's
rock-star Gene. You are soooo a star still. Super bonus point for keeping your shirt on.
Ralph Nader decided to screw up the political process again today. I really hate him. I am all for a third-party in government, but he is a joke.
Is 10,000 B.C. going to completely suck, or is it going to be kinda awesome? I can't decide. I have a feeling subtitles will be involved, which always leaves me torn. On one hand, I have to read, and you KNOW I hate doing that, but on the other, I leave the theater having read for tow hours and therefore, feeling a bit smarter. So we'll see.
So this commercial for the Toyota Seqoia with the people rolling down
the hill in the big inflatable balls is really, totally, awesome. It looks like soooo much fun and and the ad features
the cover of the R.E.M. b-side "Superman" from their 1986 under-rated classic Life's Rich Pageant. So I freak out over it each time it comes on.
Was ska bad, or was I just too young/jaded to appreciate it? I was
always of the belief that it died because it sucked. I have been told
otherwise though. Like, that it is in fact ME that sucks. Agree to
disagree.
I'm watching the Detorit Pistons play the Phoenix Suns right now at my apartment in New York. It is soooo weird to see Shaq
in a Suns jersey. For being such a legend, it's nuts that he has now
played for FOUR teams (Orlando, L.A., Miami and PHX). BTW, Jeff Van Gundy is claiming that the Utah Jazz can win a title THIS year. I call idiocy. P.S., is it OK for another man to be in-love with Steve Nash? The dude's skills already had my heart, but now I found out that he drives a PRIUS!!!! *swooooon*
I'm thinking about writing some fake letters to Post-Secret . Would that take away from the beauty of the project? I mean, I already write fake sex problem letters to Dan Savage and post fake music news at this crappy little site, so what's the diff?
