I would have to assume U-V protection is not his biggest concern. For those of you who have been hiding up a hip-hop sized rock (what shape would that rock be? Octogon? Triangle?) for the last month, Kanye West has been on a world tour in late support of his 2007 high-selling album Graduation. Mr. West has spared no expense on making this the tour of the year getting only the best in lightening crews, special effects, robot-dancer-things and 2001-esque space aged technology.

As as been the case his whole career, Kanye has taken his work very seriously and as a perfectionist, once his tour was unveiled to the world, he expected all to share in his appreciation of the tour. While most have been giving the "Glow In The Dark" tour rave reviews, one journalist dared question it. One dared voice an opinion not universally shared by his peers, dared give the tour a *gasp* ...B+.

Oooooooooh shiiiiiet. Yizzle was NOT going to be taking this lying down. With all the courage and intensity that he could muster, 'Ye unleashed his fury upon the periodical that had done wronged him: Entertainment Weekly. Below is the original E.W. review as well as Kanye's response.

I know I shouldn't dignify this with a comment, but the reviewer threw a jab at all the artists. I just wanna know when was the last time you enjoyed yourself. If you can't have fun and lose yourself at this tour it's a good chance you're a very miserable person. I actually feel sorry for you guys. Your job forces you to not have fun anymore. Grab a drink, holla at some nice girls, and party bitch!! You don't know shit about passion and art. You'll never gain credibility at this rate. You're fucking trash! I make art. You can't rate this. Ok, so it may be unwise for a music writer to come out against another music writer (I'm sure Chris Willman, and EW are shaking in their boots wondering what Rockworms will say about them!), but I actually think Kanye called him out a couple things that are legit:

It seems like when writing a review about anything, we feel the need to find something to pick on, which makes us seem like musica inteligencia (I made that up--but I mean it as some sort of "music-snob-mafia" group). We can't praise anything too much, because we're afraid if some other music snob criticizes it we will look less smart than them.

It's easy to sit the fence b/c you can agree with all sides--I think that's what Willman was doing. Overall praising the show, but making sure to point out a few imperfections so that he and the Pitchfork uber-snobs can have something to talk about.
