"Hey there Delilah"..."Hey there Delilah"..."Hey there Delilah"...it
seems that wherever I turn that song seems to be playing. While I love
that song, it is being extremely overplayed on radio stations and music
television alike. If you're wondering what else the band has to offer,
let me fill you in with a play-by-play of "Every Second Counts"..
While Our Time Now is dedicated to newfound lovers, it
definitely reeks of a newer version of the adolescent "we don't care,
we're going to have fun tonight" theme song. It's energetic and just
as it promises, makes you feel like you can do anything.
Taking the tempo down just a bit the band provides a romantic perspective of trying to salvage a relationship. While Come Back to Me
could easily sound pathetic and desparate, it does not. Rather, it
keeps the romantic hopeful that all is not lost. There are still some
who believe in working out problems to salvage a relationship.
Hate (I Really Don't Like You) is a great song. Even though the
song immediately starts off with "love love love love love love" the
song is not about being in love. "Hate is a strong word/but I really
really really don't like you" is a great way to describe how one can
feel about certain relationships (romantic and friendly). Everyone
must have had a similar relationship where the other person does not
just disaappoint, but is great at bringing people down. Just as
precise as the words are, the music is brash. As someone who hates to
be negative this song is great because it does not bash the toher
person, but rather appropriately surfaces ones trodden emotions.
To reenergize the listener after listening to ones suppressed emotions,
comes this catchy upbeat song. Definitely a summer song You and Me allows single people everywhere to listen to this song in hopes of finding someone who would "make a good you and me."
Anyone involved with someone who's afraid of commitment? Friends Don't Let Friends Dial Drunk
is the song for you. Filled with the frustrations of someone who's
being strung along this song provides the visual of sitting this
significant other down and wagging your finger to the beat. Rather
than being obnoxious this song helps to provde the necessary boldness
to confront that person in your life.
While the beginning of Making a Memory subtly reminds me of
Metallica, this is definitely not a Metallica song. A slow head
bobbing song, there is an image provide of an annoyed girlfriend
getting ready to leave her boyfriend for the night. The the urgency
kicks in with the intensity increase of the music as the boyfriend
serenades her trying to make her laugh and stay longer. This is a song
with a consistent enticing beat that can warm a heart.
As angry as the album gets, So Damn Clever deals with the
deception and manipulation of one being used for another's benefit.
While a bit more livid the music does not stray from the consistent
happy rock of the rest of the album.
