The 100 Greatest Debut Albums of All Time
The editors from Amazon have been hard at work picking the top 100 debut albums of all time. This list was one part inspiring to me, and one part depressing because I realized I need to buy a lot more albums.
Here are numbers 90-100:
90:
Confusion Is Sex - Sonic Youth
91:
Debut - Bjork
92:
Storms of Life - Randy Travis
93:
Viva Hate - Morressey
94:
Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd - Lynyrd Skynyrd
95:
Oh, Inverted World - The Shins
96:
Roxy Music - Roxy Music
97:
Homework - Daft Punk
98:
Diamond Life - Sade
99:
Cooleyhighharmony - Boyz II Men
100:
#1 Record/Radio City - Big Star

I think my favorite part of the Amazon list is how they list Radiohead’s “Pablo Honey” as having “Explicit Content” and yet, do not make any such citation on “Enter the Wu-Tang”. Hysterical.
Some glaring omissions:
Stone Temple Pilots, “Core”
Counting Crows, “August and Everything After”
And, uh, what the hell? Am I out of my mind or is Led Zeppelin not on this list?
Yes STP would have been a good one!
Zep’s Zep’ did make it. It’s #4 on the list (click the link at the bottom)
I guess I am out of my mind. I scanned right past that! Good thing, too. I’d have been angry if it weren’t on there.
