I can’t thank Ad Age enough for saying what everyone else thinks! Geez this is funny.
Pitchfork Sure Is Cutting Edge, And That’s the Problem . In case reading is too hard for you, here is the best little gem from the article:
My problem with Pitchfork boils down to this: Its contributors don’t seem to like music very much. Rather, they revel in the role of tastemaker, sternly lecturing the audience as to why Band X is cooler/more worthy of an opening slot on that super-awesome Band of Horses/Cass McCombs double bill than Band Y, and why anyone who only recently happened upon “Neon Bible” (raising hand) is a mainstream poser who totally doesn’t get what Arcade Fire is all about, man.
This is why Rockworms
is proudly “The #1 source for Mediocre Music Reviews on the web!” Sure,
we could run a site full if semi-intelligent insights (I must admit,
Kyle’s discussion on the overuse of compression in modern music is getting dangerously close to smart), but who wants that? Really???
For further reading, I think The Onion said it well a few months back:

They only seem to like the blandest mainstream crap. They worship junk like Missy Elliot, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Nas. I tend to find that if they give an album a bad review there’s a fair chance that I’ll like it, and if they give an album a good review there’s a better than fair chance that I’ll hate it. They suck Satan’s cock.
Fuck pitchfork
I think pitchfork used to be a more reliable source of good music reviews back..in the very very early 2000’s . Maybe I’ve grown cynical or my tastes have just changed, but now when I go on pitchfork and try to listen to what they praise..I find my head beginning to throb and an itchy trigger finger for skipping songs. For example today I check pitchfork on a whim, and they are talking about some new Das Racist song. Now I’ve never liked Das Racist..always viewing them as a musically annoying rap group..but I check the song anyway. “Michael Jackson.” Worst fucking song I’ve heard in a while. I’ve heard high school students make equally terrible music, albeit slightly less mastered and compressed. Anyway…the point I’m trying to make: Pitchfork used to be a bit better..now it fucking blows. There should be a website that reviews pitchfork reviews.
